One day a man went to an auction. While there,he bid on a parrot. He really wanted this bird,so he got caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding,but kept getting outbid,so he bid higher and higher and higher.

一天一个人去参加拍卖。他相中了一只鹦鹉，他真的很想要这只鸟儿，于是他在竞价中紧紧跟着。他一直出价，出得比别人都高，最终，价格一路水涨船高。

Finally,after he bid way more than he intended,he won the bid - the parrot was his at last!

As he was paying for the parrot,he said to the Auctioneer,"I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it,only to find out that he cant talk!"

Finally,the female bird turned to her mate.

"Dear," she chirped,"I think its time to tell him hes adopted."

"They use him to keep crowds back," said one youngster.

"No," said another,"hes just for good luck."

A third child concluded. "No silly,they use the dogs to find the fire hydrant!"
